Draskovic winery wines are produced by selecting best grapes finely and carefully from Vrsac vineyards. We have combined centuries long traditions in growing grapevines and passion, love for life and all the benefits of modern technologies.<\/p>\n

The history of Vrsac vineyards<\/strong><\/h4>\n

-1494<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first written record of wines from Vrsac was found during the reign of Hungarian king Vladislav II, who enjoyed their taste. The Hungarian court paid 10.5 ducats (a gold coin) for an \u2018ak\u00f3\u2019 (fifty litres) of wine from Vrsac.<\/p>\n

-1796<\/strong><\/p>\n

There were 3.400 \u2018katastarskih jutara\u2019 covered by vineyards 80.000 \u2018akov\u2019 (4,000,000 l) of wine were produced from the grapes harvested. Vrsac vineyards had the highest production of wine in the kingdom of Hungary.<\/p>\n

-1858<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wines from Vrsac started being exported thanks to connecting Vrsac with Vienna and Budapest by railway. Over two million litres of wine were transported to Vienna and Regensburg.<\/p>\n

-1875<\/strong><\/p>\n

The greatest grapes harvesting when a million of \u2018ak\u00f3\u2019 (50 litres) was produced. The vineyards covered the land of 9.875 hectares from 1873 to 1886. It was the biggest vineyard in the kingdom of Hungary.<\/p>\n

-1880<\/strong><\/p>\n

Winery Helvetia, which could hold a million litres of wine, was built by a Swiss wine merchant Staub.<\/p>\n

-1902.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first congress of the winegrowers was held in the ex-kingdom of Hungary. A big grapes, wine, fruit and wine equipment exhibition was held.<\/p>\n

-1957<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2018Vrsacki vinogradi\u2019, an agricultural organization, was made by merging organizations \u2018Sonja Marinkovic\u2019 from Vrsac and \u2018Vinogradar\u2019 from Gudurica.<\/p>\n

-1968<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wine vault \u2018Vrsacki vinogradi\u2019 was finished and it could hold 20 million litres of wine.<\/p>\n

-2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

Swisslion-Takovo bought \u2018Vrsacki vinogradi\u2019 and became the owner of one of the biggest and most famous vineyards in the region. About 600 hectares are covered by the vineyards at present.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Vrsac vineyards are located on the southeastern edge of the Pannonian plains, at the foot and the hillsides of the Vrsacke moutains which naturally lean on the Carpathians. It is close to rivers and the Deliblato sand, also known as the European Sahara.<\/p>\n

    The soil is heterogeneous: from sandy with quartz slate to soil with a higher percentage of clay. The diversity of soil and a specific microclimate make the wine special.<\/p>\n

    Climate in vineyards of Vrsac is humid continental, with enough rainfalls and expressed seasons\u00a0 which corresponds to the development of grapevine. Annual cross section of the temperature is 12C. In this area winds\u00a0 blow from different directions, oftenest of which is southeastern wind \u2013 kosava.<\/p>\n

    Types of wine<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

    There are fifteen types of wine among which white wine types prevail: Italian Riesling, Rhinehessen Riesling, white Burgundy, Chardonnay, Muscat Ottonel, Kreaca (indigenous to Vrsac), Smederevka (indigenous to the Smederevo wine region), Zupljanka (indigenous to the Srem wine region), Chasselas, Rkatsiteli. Red wine grapes cultivated here include Blaufr\u00e4nkisch (blue Frankish), Black Muscat, and since 2018 Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah.<\/p>\n

    Winery<\/strong><\/h4>\n

    New premises were built in 2017 at the foot of Vrsacki breg in the middle of the vineyards. The premises cover the area 8.000 square metres, equipped by the most advanced technology for wine making process. It can produce 5.6 million litres of wine.<\/p>\n<\/div>
